Experiencing God- The End Is Near

For those of you who have been going through The Experiencing God study with us on Sunday nights, the end is near! Only two more weeks and we will finish the study. Pastor Rick and Kevin have been doing some thinking about what we will do next and we are considering doing a six-week study on leadership. More information will come soon! As we finish this study we are going to be talking about the seven realities of experiencing God. Please take a few minutes Continue reading →

A Note from Pastor Rick

It’s Friday but Sunday is coming! As we gather Sunday at FBC Oswego, I will be teaching on “Making the Most of Every Opportunity.” We will study Col 4:2-6, Ephe 5:15. You can read Phil 1:12-18 for additional study. Last week’s chicken noodle dinner by First Methodist tasted great. Even better was the conversation at the table. Today Danny took me to the Vets Recognition at the High School and I had the opportunity to meet several new people. By the way Nancy and I Continue reading →

Look for the Good in Others

“If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will.” Abraham Lincoln “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”Ephesians 4:32 Today look for the good in people you meet.

Easter

Amen, I really wonder if this is how Moses felt when he returned from the mountain? After all, for us today, the bunny is a much prettier picture than a bloody cross. Only satan can get away with twisting Gods creation to imply a bunny lays an egg or the egg represents the new birth…….my friends, the last time I checked, nothing even comes close to the cross and the resurrection. I wonder how God feels when we try to draw people to the cross Continue reading →

Acts of Kindness

Acts of kindness come in many different colors. Yesterday, I received a note in the mail that reflected on our mother’s day sermon with thoughtful appreciation. These words not only made my day, they reaffirmed to me why I am called to do God’s work……why we are each called. Each day, we have the privilege of affecting the lives of all we come in contact with…how are we going to handle that honor? Will we simply throw a ” positive ” word out so we Continue reading →

Through God’s Eyes

We all know that we face trials that are intended to increase our faith. We also know that we usually learn by experience, as we can better understand how others feel when we’ve been there ourselves. This reminds me of our heavenly Father, who wrapped himself in flesh and walked among us; so that even HE could truly understand his own creation and ultimately become a living sacrifice for our sins. If we study His example, the way He dealt with the negative in life Continue reading →

A More Intentional Walk With Him This Year

One thing I know for sure, humans are extremely habitual creatures. It has been 2015 for only a few days now and already I have tried to sign more than one dated document as January 2014. I would like to think I have learned my lesson, but the truth remains that it is likely to happen again. Unfortunately, at least if you talk to my lovely wife, I have many habits. Some are good and some not so good. One habit my home church might Continue reading →
